How We Rank Resorts

Every resort on Empty Leg Fly is chosen and ordered by the same process.

1. Shortlisting

We start with every resort in the destination that matches the page's promise (for Montego Bay: adults-only, all-inclusive, bookable on Trip.com). Anything that fails one of those tests is out, no matter how famous it is.

2. Scoring

We weigh four things: recent guest ratings across Trip.com and other major review sites; value for money within its price tier; location and airport convenience; and distinctiveness, meaning what the resort offers that you can't get next door.

3. Coverage

A ranking that only lists luxury resorts is useless to most people. We deliberately include picks for every budget and every style of holiday.

4. Honesty

Each resort page lists real downsides. If we can't think of any, we haven't looked hard enough.

What doesn't affect rankings

Commission rates, sponsorship or any payment from resorts. We have no commercial relationship with any resort on this site; our only partner is Trip.com, which pays the same way regardless of which resort you book.
