Ironshore sits between the airport and Rose Hall, which makes it one of the most practical villa addresses in Montego Bay: ten to fifteen minutes from arrivals, close to the golf courses and the Rose Hall shops, and quiet at night. Ironshore is residential rather than beachfront, so check the listing for beach access arrangements if you want sand within walking distance.

Why groups switch from resorts to villas

Book eight people into a resort and you get four rooms on different floors, four separate bills, and a lobby as your only shared space. Book the same eight into a villa and you get one house, one rate, a kitchen, a pool and somewhere to sit together at midnight. Past roughly eight travellers the villa is usually cheaper per head as well.

Weddings and events

If you are planning anything more than a family dinner, raise it with the host before you book. Most villas price for residents only, and bringing in non-resident guests, outside caterers or vendors often triggers an event fee and a guest cap. Getting this agreed in writing early avoids the most common villa dispute there is.

Sleeping arrangements

Bedroom counts hide a lot of detail. Ask how many are king, how many are twin, whether any are configured for children, and how the bathrooms are shared. A ten-bedroom villa with four shared bathrooms is a very different trip from one where every room is en suite.

Practical points for big groups

  • Book transfers as a group; a bus is cheaper and simpler than five taxis.
  • Agree the grocery budget up front so one person is not fronting it.
  • Pool the staff gratuity at the end rather than tipping individually.
  • Expect minimum stays of five to seven nights in peak weeks.
